Regal 6 Drawer Dresser with Bowed Front...SOLD

I am so happy with how this piece turned out. I think blue is such a beautiful color and it makes this dresser look very classy, especially with the gold knobs!

As you can tell from the before pictures...someone loved this dresser with nail polish...oops! Not only was it on the drawer fronts but the handles as well. I had to soak them in mineral spirits to get it all off and sand the dresser with all my might! After all the sanding I painted it "Filoli Dark Iris" from Valspar, distressed the edges, sanded it again and applied a coat of wax. I also added a very fun and trendy drawer liner that is a white, gray and blue chevron pattern to complete the look. The handles I painted gold after sanding the years of paint and polish away. I think it turned out very regal! How cute would this be in a nursery as a changing table?! Or under your TV...or in an office...it would look beautiful in any room of your home!

In all, this solid wood dresser measures 49.75 in. long x 17.75 in. deep x 31.5 in. tall. The two top drawers {all of which are dove tailed} have a bowed front adding to its character and are 22 in. long x 14.75 in. deep and sink 6 in. The bottom 4 drawers are 22 in. long x 15 in. deep and sink 7 in.

Darling 6 Drawer Dresser...SOLD

Well folks, we are finally starting to feel settled in the new house. I have painted everything minus the doors and their frames...yuck...who wants to do that, right?? Well, I thought that painting some furniture sounded a lot more fun and it just so happens that my garage is full of pieces to be painted so I decided to do that instead :)

So here it is...my first piece after a LONNNNNGGGGG break. I have to be honest, I have missed doing this.

If you are a follower of my blog you already know the rundown, but for those that are new I will fill you in. I start off by sanding. IT IS A MUST if you want paint to stick to the original finish. I then painted it, distressed it because I love that look, sanded it again for a smooth finish and applied a coat of wax for durability. Viola!

This beaut is a mixed paint because I had 2 half-finished gallons that I needed to use up. It is 50/50 Sea Kiss and Aqua Glow {from Valspar} which made the perfect robin's egg blue...ADORABLE!

It measures 52 in. long x 32 in. tall x 17.5 in. deep and has 6 drawers that are 20 in. long x 13.5 in. deep and sink 6 in. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hope you're enjoying the beginning of your Halloween week...MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!!! ~Kell

Amazing Coffee Table...SOLD

Well howdy everyone. What a summer it has been! I don't know about you but I am really looking forward to fall this year. A change in weather sounds really nice about now and then maybe I will feel like stepping outside to redo some fabulous furniture. Speaking of not redoing furniture...I ran across this AMAZING coffee table about a year ago and had the intent to paint it. Well, because my garage was entirely packed from other pieces, it adorned our front room all this time and the more I saw it the more I wanted to leave it the finish that it was...ebony stain. What an amazing piece. In all my years of hunting down furniture I have never seen a coffee table that I love so much!! I would keep it if it weren't for our ottoman...our kids' favorite seat in the house...hehehe! It literally could fit in with any style of decor from modern to county. It is old...I believe the original owner told me it was from the 60's. It is a solid wood piece with a glass top that is help in place by brass knobs. It is really heavy so you know it will last for all the years to come. Like I said, it has an ebony stain that appears to be one coat because in the right light you can see the beautiful wood grain underneath, but it is definitely black. It also has some amazing distressing in all the right places because it is natural from it's 50+ years of life...♥!! It measures 64 in. long x 21 in. wide x 17 in. tall.
Thanks for dropping by and not giving up on me...I plan to return soon...just have a few more rooms to paint! Enjoy the last of our summer months, my friends! ~Kell

I'm still here...

Well, many of you may be wondering what in the world happened to me! I have taken a small leave of absence because we recently moved; a large task that has not allowed me any spare time to refinish pieces. We love the house we moved in to but every square inch requires paint, which is something I love to do...thank heavens. I promise to be back to finishing pieces real soon and as soon as I do...you will be the first to know! Thanks for checking in on me and enjoy the rest of your summer!!

Changing Table Part II...CUSTOM

For those of you who frequent my blog, you know that I recently listed a changing table that had been finished in the most adorable emerald color. Now, I know when I refinish a piece in a bright color it will not be for everyone. It takes that "one special buyer" that has been searching for an emerald dresser, and let's be honest...that doesn't happen every day. {Lucky for my cute piece it found that buyer!}

After I posted that piece I had at least 3 people contact me asking if I had anything like it that I was planning to paint white. Well, low and behold, the first woman that contacted me was in luck. I had been on Craigslist and happened upon a changing table EXACTLY like the one I had just finished. It was located in an antique mall so she was able to snatch it up and I was blessed to be able to finish it for her. Perfect timing!! It turned out adorable and I know it will be perfect for her nursery!!

She has since asked me to finish a chair for her that I will have to post "after" pictures of when I'm done! I can't wait! I don't know about you but I am such a "before & after" junkie! Can't get enough of it!! Hope you will enjoy these before and after pics. {I must admit that I forgot to get pictures of her changing table so I am using mine from the emerald piece. They were literally exactly the same except her knobs were black. What are the odds?!!

Thanks for dropping by ~Kell

This is a preview of the chair I will be finishing for her...It will be grey when all is said and done! Can't wait :)

Darling {Full or Queen} Bedroom Set...SOLD

I am thrilled to say that I have completed another set...which means my garage is one step closer to being clean...which means my hubby won't have to park outside in the awful summer heat...YUCK!!

This set is adorable, can I just say! It is a John Stuart Inc. {Grand Rapids, NY} set and comes with three pieces: a tallboy, nightstand and full or queen size headboard. They started their life in that "oh so outdated" brown and have been given a facelift by being painted Du Jour {a pretty shade of white} by Valspar. Like all my pieces, they have been sanded, cleaned, painted {with 3 coats}, sanded and cleaned again for a beautiful SMOOTH finish and waxed to seal it all up!!

The 2 dressers are solid wood and feature dovetail drawers. The tallboy stands 49in. tall x 36.5in. wide x 19.25in. deep. It has three drawers that are 32.5in. wide x 16.5in. deep and sink 6in. one of which contains 2 drawer dividers making it simple to organize your belongings. It also features 2 doors that hide cubbies as wel1 as 2 small drawers perfect for hiding important things. The cubbies are 5.5 and 6.5in. tall x 16in. wide x 18in. deep while the drawers are 15in. deep x 13in. wide and sink 1.75in.

The nightstand measures 20in. deep x 22in. wide x 24in. tall. It has 1 drawer that is 16.5in. deep x 17.5in. wide and sinks 3.25in. as well as a nice cubby underneath that is 18.25in. deep x 18.5in. wide x 9in. tall.

The headboard stands 44.5in tall and is 5ft. long which could be used for a full or queen size bed. I am sorry, but I don't have the rails for them. You can usually find them at goodwill or other thrift shops easily!

Thanks for stopping by peeps and I hope you enjoy your weekend ~Kell

Darling Dresser or Changing Table...SOLD

Oh man, this turned out SOOO cute. Every time I finish a piece I say I have a new favorite color and it has happened again! Tropical Rainforest by Valspar. They say emerald is the new color of 2013 and I wanted something to speak to that. Well, here it is.

This dresser stands 37 in. tall x 43.25. in long x 21.75 in. deep. It features 4 dove tailed drawers with beautiful see through fronts showing off the trendy black and white drawer liners. Each drawer measures 16.5 long x 15 in. deep and sink 4.25 in. It also has a door that hides 2 spacious shelves that are 19.5 in. x 19.5 in. Talk about room to store stuff!

What I love most about this piece is its versatility! It could be used as a TV stand, a dresser, a changing table, a buffet or credenza...just about anything you can think up!!

I sanded the whole thing, painted it, sanded it again, distressed it and finished it off with a coat of wax. I hope you'll note the attention to detail. Most people don't paint the parts of furniture you can't see. Well, my OCD tendencies would not let me get away with that!!! If you will see it...I will paint it...which is why the inside of the cupboard is so beautiful and the drawers are lined all pretty :)

Please let me know if you have any questions...that's what I'm here for. Have a great one ~Kell

French Provincial Dresser...SOLD

Well...it was a beast to tackle but I am happy to report that the darling French provincial dresser I had is finally finished. I am not sure what the previous owners had been thinking but apparently they thought "textured" furniture was all the rage because they had some kind of a texturing agent sprayed on it that was not too pleasant to get off! I'll be honest though...it’s pieces like this that make what I do fun. I am completely in love with "Before & After" pictures and this one gives you a good set of those :)

I had a sweet friend wanting this for her toddler daughter’s room which already had a distinct color scheme so she picked "Sea Kiss" by Valspar to tie right in with the darling decor. To finish it I had to strip it more than once. You will see from my pictures that follow just how much "texturing" came off :/ After I had stripped it I still had to sand it quite a bit but it came out very smooth which made it all worth it. Then I applied the paint, sanded it again and applied the wax seal. She had requested pewter hardware to match the existing metals in the room so I painted all of them and voila...a darling solid dresser that is sure to last for years to come!!

Happy Easter, everyone ~Kell

Recently Finished Headboard, Footboard and Nightstands...CUSTOM

I was getting around to downloading pictures and ran across some of a job I did for a client that I never posted. She came to me with a gorgeous bed and 2 nightstands that did not match that she was planning on using in her master bedroom. Since they were going in the same room we decided to paint them the same color to tie them together. She picked a very taupy {Kellieism, I know} gray which turned out absolutely stunning! Take a gander...

Well, I don't know about you, but I am ready for bed! Nighty-night ~Kell

3 Drawer Mid Century Modern Dresser...SOLD

This piece is AWESOME! It started out in great shape but lacked a current feel so I decided to paint it an ever trendy shade of gray called Stone Mason Gray by Valspar. It not only brought it to life but is still in keeping with its age.

As with all my pieces...it got a full sanding, 3 coats of paint {most of my pieces get that if not more...nice and durable}, another sanding for that nice smooth finish and a coat of wax to keep it protected.

This piece is so retro and would make an adorable nightstand, side table, dresser, buffet or credenza, entry way table...you name it!

It measures 34 in. long x 18.5 in. deep x 30.5 in. tall with dove tail drawers that are 30.5 in. long x 16.5 in. deep and sink 5.5 in. It is solid wood and sure to last a lifetime!

Happy weekend to you ~Kell

Depression Era Waterfall Dresser...SOLD

I had a client contact me and tell me that she was in the market for a tall dresser for her son's room. When I found this beauty I couldn't pass it up! Especially since she is the one that bought my awesome waterfall desk a while back. She, too, agreed that it was the one and decided to have me paint it black. Sadly, my camera's flash is catching the wax I finished it with. Maybe I should have her do the "after" pictures since she is a professional photographer!! Any who, I think it will fit quite nice in a young boy's room!

Hope you're enjoying your evening ~Kell

On a side note...when I was sanding this piece I came across a date stamp that read Feb. 02, 1948. How fun is that?!
