Upright Piano...Custom Re-finish

Pianos are quickly becoming one of my favorite pieces to paint because they can transform the entire feel of a room! I recently posted about finishing my own piano and am now excited to show you pictures of a piano I just finished for a client. She has been working with a decorator and together they were toying around with a darker gray or black. They ended up landing on 'Peppercorn Gray' by Sherwin Williams and I can't even tell you how stunning it looks!! Sadly my picture taking skills just don't do it justice. {It's impossible to get a good shot in a garage...hehehe} None the less...feast your eyes on this...

Oh happy day...my client just sent me a picture of the finished piano in her home...doesn't it look AMAZING!!! {Thanks for letting me post it Kari!!}

And since we spoke of feasts...HAPPY THANKSGIVING all! ~Kell

Finally...

I have wanted to paint my piano for as long as I can remember! I have done several for clients {you can see them here} and every time I do I dream about what color I would paint my own. Going back and forth between gray, white, and cream has held me up quite a bit. That's a big decision to make because heaven knows I do not want to paint it again for a VERY long time and I will certainly never part ways with this piece because it is the piano my kids learned to play on! Finally last weekend, the planets aligned to where we had no soccer games {that never happens with 2 kiddos playing}, and nothing pressing, and my thought was 'it's now or never'! I finally picked gray because it is the perfect neutral! It is light enough to disguise all the fingerprints to come and dark enough to hide all the dirty hand marks I am sure will ensue. I was determined...and my old body paid for it the next day but I was able to pound it out in ONE DAY! I will never do that again but must say I am so happy to finally have it done! I am thrilled with the color {Cathedral Stone by Valspar} and shouldn't admit that I walk by it many times a day just so I can sigh {insert super happy face}!! I am happy to cross that off my 'to-do list' just in time for the holidays!

I hope you're having a wonderful day ~Kell

Mint Green Thomasville Armoire...SOLD

A new piece has recently been finished and I must say it is pretty darn cute! When I picked this piece up it was off white...and not the clean fresh off white that goes great with shabby decor. Because of its age the white had turned to a brown tinted cream and had flecks of a goldish color that once was popular. Not anymore! While the bones were GREAT, this piece needed an update and what better color to give it just that than mint green! {Go ahead and google 'Mint Green Armoire' and you will likely ohhh and awwwwe at all the inspiration, like I did!} To give it a fun trendy finish I added gold arrow pulls to replace the broken existing ones and am totally loving how it turned out!

This is a solid wood Thomasville Armoire featuring 3 drawers and 2 shelves for your storage needs. The cubbie portions measure 34.5 in. wide x 15 in deep x 9.5 in. tall. The two bottom drawers are 14.5 in. deep x 30 in. wide and sink 5 in. and the one behind the door is 12 in. deep x 26.5 in. wide and sinks 5 in. also. All drawers are fashioned with dove tail joints as this quality piece is built to stand the test of time!

I hope you are having a wonderful day! Thanks for dropping by ~Kell

Stunning Chris Madden 12 Drawer Solid Wood Dresser & Mirror...SOLD

Oh boy...I wish I could add emoji's...I would insert the cute yellow face with heart eyes because that is how I feel about this dresser!! I placed it in my bedroom to store and it made my heart jump...I now know that this is how I want to refinish my bedroom set. I absolutely love how this turned out!!! The white paint with the dark walnut stain is SOOOO beautiful it's making me swoon ♥

This very heavy, solid wood, dove tailed piece has been sanded, de-glossed, primed, stripped of the original coat on the top which was stained in a dark walnut with a coat of polyurethane added, and the body and mirror were painted with several coats using an industrial sprayer for no brush strokes in a color called Comet Dust by Valspar which is a beautiful white with very light gray undertones...perfect match for any home! After the paint was applied it was sanded again for a smooth finish and waxed for protection. I also added new knobs to the top drawers to give it a more substantial feel and I love the pairing!!

Altogether it stands 66 in. wide x 18 in deep x 38 in tall. It features 12 drawers...the side ones are 12 in. wide x 14.5 in. deep and sink 4 & 6 in. while the middle 4 are 27.5 in. wide x 14.5 in. deep and sink 4 & 6 in. The mirror measures 38 in. wide x 42.5 in. tall x 3 in. deep.

Thanks for popping in! Stay tuned as there is more to come...I just finished a darling armoire that I am waiting on some hardware for and I will get it posted. It's almost the weekend every one {insert happy dance} ~Kell

Keepin' busy...

I have been busy trying to clean out my garage of some pieces...I feel like a furniture hoarder! I am happy to have been able to finish the following 3 pieces and have a couple more that I will be posting about soon. I think my back will thank me if I take a small nap now :)

**SOLD** This first piece is an awesome Mid Century Hutch. Mid Century Modern pieces are so fun and versatile and this one is just that! I love its clean lines paired with the soft gray that I painted it. I could see it as a book shelf for an office or even a kitchen with all your cookbooks, or to display your china! It would even make a darling display shelf in a nursery or child's room, or even your family room!

This solid wood piece stands 36 in long x 16 in. deep x 66.5 in. tall. Behind the doors you'll find a drawer and a cubby for additional storage. The drawer is 30.25 in. long x 12.5 in. deep and sinks 2.75 in. and the cubby sits 14.75 in. deep x 34 in. long x 15 in. tall. The top three shelves are 33 in. long x 11 in. deep and measure between 10-11.5 in. tall and comes with 2 pieces of cut glass for sliding doors {not pictured for décor purposes} It is listed for $199...

**SOLD** Every once in a while a piece comes my way that I love so much it is hard to part ways with...and this one might just rank at the top!! I L.O.V.E everything about this dresser so much. It started out as a cherry wood beauty but transformed into an absolute stunner.

I can envision it for so many purposes like a wardrobe if your closet can't hold all your belongings, something to store your linens in in your bathroom, a place to organize your office or craft supplies, or a statement piece to house all your odds and ends, etc...the possibilities are endless!

All together this solid wood piece stands, 50.25 in. long x 20 in. deep x 60 in. tall. It features 15 drawers, 2 of which are hidden. The 6 on the right are 22.5 in. long x 13 in. deep and sink 6 in. The 2 secret drawers are behind the molding on the top of the dresser and sit 19.5 in. long x 13 in. deep and sink 2.75 in. while the final 7 on the left are 11.5 in. long x 13 in. deep and sink anywhere from 2.5 in (2) to 5.5 in. (3)

**SOLD** And finally today there's this cute little curvy thing! I think that the Colonial Traditional look is so adorable and it pairs so well with white. I love the crispness that white gives to furniture...it's kind of my favorite! It would be so cute in an entry way to house all your things, you could use the dresser as a TV console and decorate an adjoining wall with the mirror, use it as a buffet in a kitchen or dining room, a dresser for a bedroom or nursery {think changing table} or extra storage space for an office...you name it! It can adorn your home for $299 which is a steal for a solid wood, dove tailed combo.

It stands 52 in. long x 18 in. deep x 32 in. tall. the dove tailed drawers sit 21 in. long x 14 in. deep and sink 3.5 in. {top}, 7.25 in. {middle} & 8.25 in. {bottom} while the mirror measures 32.5 in. tall x 44.5in. long x 1.75 in. deep. and has brackets to attach it to the dresser or you can hang it freely on the wall.

Back from hiatus...

Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed your awesome summer break like I did!! I was so thankful to be able to take some time off to bask in the joy of my kiddos being home...and no schedule. Can I just say...that is my favorite {insert happy dance}

But as always, I was really happy when life returned to normal and a schedule appeared again. Funny how things cycle, huh?! Kinda reminds me of the little saying about the grass always being greener. I also was excited to be able to work on furniture again. It had been way to long and my creative mojo was ready to burst. My garage has been full of pieces since before summer began that I was really looking forward to busting out and I also had the privilege to work on some pieces for some clients. So rather than post a thousand times {yes...I am being slightly sarcastic} I decided I will do one large dump post...so bear with me!

**SOLD** Here is a beautiful Colonial Traditional 9 drawer {dove tailed} solid wood dresser I recently finished and for the life of me I can't find my before pictures. I will keep digging through my files and when I come across them I will add them. But envision if you will a brown dresser...straight out of the 70's...and you will know exactly what it looked like in its former life, hehehe! It has been brought out of that decade and given a new lease on life. I decided to paint it a soft cream because I thought it paired well with the hardware and lines of this particular piece! I slightly distressed it as well for the perfect shabby chic look. I am asking $250 for this awesome dresser that could be used for multiple purposes...a TV console, a changing table, and entry way table or sofa table...even a buffet or sideboard in a dining room. Isn't she a beaut?!

All together this piece stands 62 in. long x 17.5 in. deep x 32 in. tall and has 9 dove tailed drawers that measure 13.75 in. & 20 in. long x 14 in. deep and sink 3 in. & 7 in.

**SOLD** And then there is this awesome gem made by Khoury! Straight out of the Mid Century with its uber modern look and clean lines. I fell in love with the hardware on this one and decided to paint it gray because it is retro and trendy, just like this dresser! It is solid wood and features 5 dove tailed drawers that are nice and spacious. This one goes for $150 which is a great deal for a solid piece that will last forever! And again with the before pictures...appearently I need to organize my pictures better. They'll surface, and when they do I will add them right away.

This piece sits 30 in. long x 16 in. deep x 45 in. tall. It features 5 dove tailed drawers that measure 27 in. long x 13.5 in. deep and sink 5.5 in.

This darling desk made by Flanders just **sold**! I am loving the cute Colonial Traditional look of it painted in a beautiful cream color paired with the gray stain on top that allows the original wood grain to show through. I distressed it allowing it to keep with its age which turned out amazing! Its new owner will be using it as a vanity which I am thrilled about...I love outside the box thinking when it comes to furniture!!

I also had the AMAZING opportunity to help out a wonderful cause!! A young police officer was killed in our area last year and the neighbors of his family that were left behind held an fantastic auction for which I donated time and supplies to finish a dresser for someone. The dresser came to me already white so a before picture would be redundant but it was in bad shape from being left out in the rain and had peeling paint revealing a previous bright orange color! I was able to fix the damage the rain had caused and after stripping away the layers of color I painted it white and left it looking beautiful again. I also filled the drawer pull holes so that she could use crystal knobs instead. I thank my client on this one because she was extremely patient with me! It came right with the holidays, my grandfather passing, and girls camp...so it sat on the back burner longer than I care to admit but am thankful she was not in a hurry for her piece and waited for me to get my can in gear!

And last but not least are these amazing pieces that I was able to do for some clients. The first pictures are of a desk that I was able to complete {front & back} for someones office. This included sanding, de-glossing, priming, painting and applying wax and polyurethane. The others are of a campaign dresser for a twins nursery which needed a drawer fixed, a buffet that they will be using as a TV console that I fixed a pew pieces on and stained the top, some cubbies for their sons playroom {which I am waiting on the after pictures for}, and finally a cart for my kiddos school PTO.

As you can see...it's been a very busy little bit for me and I am so happy to be back at it!!! Hope you're all having a great night and a wonderful start to your Fall...my FAVORITE time of year ~Kell
