Well, I must say that I don't think I have ever had a hate~love relationship with a piece of furniture like I did this one. I know, I know, most people say love~hate...I saved the love for last because that is the order in which it happened!
When I picked this piece up it screamed potential at the same time appearing quite defeated. I am very much so convinced that it was trying to kill me...with sanding that is. 2 THICK coats of paint stripper could not come close to removing what was glopped on to this beauty. Good thing I love furniture and can see the potential that most can't making it possible to save this piece from the graveyard commonly known as "the dump".
As mentioned, I stripped this piece twice and still had to sand the heck out of it!!! I decided that this one merited a HAPPY facelift and decided to paint it a fun shade of yellow which, I don't know about you, but it makes me smile. Once it was dry I applied a coat of wax and attached its original hardware that had taken a day long bath in mineral spirits to get the purple and glow in the dark paint off of it. And just to add one more happy feature...I lined the drawers with a beautiful black and white contact paper. I love finishing touches! Enter "LOVE" ♥
In all, the dresser measures 57.5 in. wide x 17.5 in. deep x 31.5 in. tall and has 9 drawers {with dove tail construction} that are all the same size: 13.5 in wide x 15.75 in. deep on plunge 6.25 in.
Hope you're having a nice day...I am about to enjoy a nice glass of fresh squeezed lemonade made from lemons off our tree! I love this time of year in Sunny Arizona ~Kell
