Year at a glance...{i.e. super long post with lots of pictures}

Where does the time go?? I started off the year with a lot of big things on my plate and knew that I would not have the chance to do any furniture for a bit. Well, then life threw our little family a curve ball and we ended up moving mid-year which delayed me getting pieces done even more. It has been such a wonderful year full of so many great things but I am ready to get back to it! Now that the holidays are over you will be seeing a lot more of me...I hope that's not a bad thing...hehehe!

If you're curious to see what I have been up to, take a peek...

These are in no particular order; I just finally cleaned up my pictures and am ready to throw them out there!

Since we moved into a new home, my girls no longer have to share a room. Bitter sweet, if you ask this mom, but they are happy to have their own space and that makes me happy {I still find them sleeping in each other's rooms every once in a while...insert happy sigh} Well, that little change required more furniture. That's never a bad thing if you ask me {wink}
Well, I was able to score a DARLING twin bed that needed an update and here she is...

She was also in need of a nightstand which didn't require much but I still painted it to match the bed...

I also did a custom piece for a darling client that had just moved in to her dream home. They were using a lot of natural colors and she wanted this amazing Mid Century Modern piece that I was selling painted a Burnt Sienna color. My after pictures are a little shot, but you get the idea...

She also purchased the super cute changing table I had finished a while back if you remember!

Do you remember this chair? Well, I stripped it of all its fabric, and finished it in a beautiful shade of gray {which was what my client requested} and gave it a mild distressing. It turned out great!

One of my friends who is an Interior Designer brings me clients which I greatly appreciate and this is a chair that I did for one of them. She only wanted it painted black so it's not a huge transformation but is one none the less...

That same friend picked up a darling bench that was quite dull and she wanted it to POP. Well, POP it does!! Isn't it cute?!

One of my dear friends moved here from out of state a while back and has been trying to put her new house together. Here are some things I have done for her playroom...

{I wish I could find the before pictures of these}

Right before we moved we had our kitchen cabinets painted and I wanted our table to match them so I refinished it by re-staining the top a walnut color, painted the chairs white and reupholstered them to match the gray throughout the house. I love how it turned out...

{Wow...that's a lot of oak!}

I also made throw pillows to match...

If you remember a while back, I redid an AWESOME chevron dresser for my son's room. I had a client that fell in love with the piece and wanted it for her nursery {I'll have to see if she'll let me post the pictures of it. If she will, you'll see why...it is the PERFECT FIT!!} That said, I was on the hunt for a different dresser for my little man's room. I found it. It wasn't too pretty so we dressed it up with a fun shade of orange to match this awesome bed spread I came across and had to have. {Have I mentioned I LOVE CHEVRON??} He plays club soccer so I am using gray and orange in the funnest ways to make his room a soccer haven, so naturally an orange dresser seemed fitting...right?!?

One of my friends was re-doing some things in her house and asked me to paint some smaller pieces black.

One of my dearest friends was trying to transform her family room from dark reds and browns to a more airy blue and white feel. I finished this dresser for her that she uses as a TV console. There is no before picture because when I got it it was primed {white} so you couldn't tell the difference from a snap shot anyways. It was birch beforehand if you can picture that.

Remember that friend that's an interior designer I mentioned. Well one of her clients had used me previously for these amazing chairs...if you'll remember a while back.

She has since used me to paint a toddler bed in a fun shade of turquoise/aqua...

And I am in the process of painting an OLD piano for her as we speak. I will post the amazing transformation for you once I am finished! But here is a glimpse of the "before"...

Finally got the after shots...STUNNING!!

{Silly, I found these inside the piano. Wonder how long they've been there}

Since moving, I have found that my dinky pieces of furniture don't quite fit in our new home. I laugh because so many people have said to me..."I bet your house is amazing!" "I bet you have the most beautiful pieces of furniture in the world?" Well, sadly that was not the case. I don't know about you, but doesn't it always seem that the stuff you want for yourself always gets put on the back burner? I finally took some time to finish a few pieces for me. Selfish, I know...but it needed to be done. The first piece was an entertainment console. It started out as a tall dresser, but we needed space for our cable box and electronics, so I removed a drawer and added a shelf in its place and what started out as this...

Ended up as this...and I could not be more thrilled!!!

I also scored these GORGEOUS chairs at a garage sale that needed to be brought back to life. I still need to sew the seat cushions but you get the idea...

Well, that is my year in a nutshell. It was an AMAZING year with lots of excitement and change but I am ready for a sense of normalcy again...and a clean garage! Happy 2014 everyone! Keep checking back to see what I've been up to...I love having you around ~Kell
